  • Project Area: Improvement of Community Libraries
  • Project Duration: 2024-03-16 to 2025-03-15
  • Donor: Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA Nepal)

On April 25, 2015, Nepal was struck by a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8, followed by numerous aftershocks. The disaster caused significant destruction and loss of life, profoundly impacting the nation and its people. Many of the READ Nepal-supported community library and resource center(CLRC), which provide essential educational and community resources, faced significant damage, underscoring the need for extensive rebuilding and support to restore their services and infrastructure. In the wake of reconstruction efforts, READ Nepal and Shanti Volunteer Association Nepal agreed for the partnership to reconstruct some of the CLRCs damaged by the earthquake under the "Improvement of Community Libraries Project."

Spanning across three years, the projects' core objective is to offer a robust TVET platform within each CLRCs dedicated vocational training workshop. This strategic initiative focuses on:

  • Infrastructure Development: Building dedicated vocational training workshops within the CLRCs
  • Skill Development: Offering training programs that align with market demand
  • Economic Growth: Empowering individuals with skills that enhance their employability and contribute to economic development.

By integrating TVET into the CLRCs, we aim to foster both personal and community growth, driving sustainable economic progress.
