Navigator/ DIYO project
  • Project Area: Awareness on Safe Migration
  • Project Duration: 2021-04-01 to 2021-07-23
  • Donor: IREX

It is estimated that more than 3 million Nepalese people are engaged in foreign employment and about 2,000 people leave the country every day in search of employment opportunities. Due to the lack of proper information, many people are being victim of fraud, misinformation and are vulnerable to trafficking. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the risk of people being victim of fraud as well as physical and mental health risks have been increased. To aware the people on local employment opportunities and process of the safer migration in the changed context of COVID-19, READ Nepal, and IREX partnered to implement Navigator/DIYO program in 14 districts through 20 READ centers. This program aims to reach potential youth migrants, migrant workers, returnees, and their families through informational videos, IEC materials, awareness interaction, training, and access to informational resources through a corner at the library and electronic media to increase the awareness on the process of safe migration, minimization of potential risk, and increase awareness on local employment opportunities.
